EU Wide Vehicle Take Back and Recycling Obligations

Great Wall Motor Netherlands Sales B.V. (“GWM NL SALES”) places vehicles on the market within the European Union and fulfills all obligations arising under Directive 2000/53/EC on End of Life Vehicles (ELV Directive) and the corresponding national legislation in each EU Member State.
GWM NL SALES ensures that all last owners of M1 and N1 vehicles are entitled to free of charge take back of their end of life vehicles (“ELVs”), provided that:
   • the vehicle is complete and contains all essential components,
   • the vehicle contains no additional waste, and
   • the vehicle is delivered to an authorized take back or treatment facility.
All contracted treatment partners comply with the minimum technical requirements of Annex I of the ELV Directive and achieve the applicable reuse, recycling, and recovery targets (currently 85% reuse/recycling and 95% reuse/recovery).
Upon delivery of an ELV to an authorized treatment facility, the last owner receives a Certificate of Destruction, which is required for vehicle deregistration under national law.

Battery Return and Recycling Procedures

Vehicle batteries may be returned to any authorized GWM retail or service partner.
If a replacement is required, the partner will install a new battery and ensure proper handling of the removed unit.
Damaged or defective high voltage batteries, including those resulting from accidents, must be handled in accordance with:
   • ADR transport regulations (UN 3480/3481),
   • the EU Batteries Regulation, and
   • national hazardous goods legislation.
Such batteries may be registered for collection and recycling via GWM NL SALES’ authorized partner PRIOREC.
Where GWM NL SALES does not bear the associated costs, uniform and market standard conditions will be agreed with the commissioned third party.

Reuse, Second Life Applications, and Circular Economy Measures

GWM NL SALES and its authorized partners ensure that end of life vehicles and accident damaged vehicles are treated in accordance with all applicable EU and national laws.
The parties jointly define the conditions for:
   • disassembly and processing of vehicle components,
   • reuse and resale of tested components,
   • second life applications for high voltage battery modules, and
   • compliance with the EU Batteries Regulation and, where applicable, the WEEE Directive.
GWM NL SALES voluntarily assumes responsibility beyond the minimum legal requirements to promote resource conservation, environmental protection, and circular economy principles.
